Long ago in a galaxy far, far away .....

I ran a giveaway.

This lovely lady won and has been patiently waiting and waiting and waiting.
She must have been wondering whether this was some sort of scam as the months have ticked by and nothing has arrived.

But at last, with kids at school and some time on my hands (ie chosing to ignore the dirty clothes, floors and bathrooms), Australia Post delivered these goodies to her on Monday.
Thank you for your patience Hilary. I hope you enjoy them !!
(Next time there is a giveaway, I promise to be a little more prompt with the follow through ....)

Cheers

Jenny

Neglect

I have a growing list of things that have been neglected so I have made big effort to address a couple of them. I negelected to share my good fortune. I had a win over at Andi's and a couple of weeks ago, over a lovely morning hot choc & cake I came into the possession of these little lovelies. Aren't they wonderful. I have a plan for one of them already ... I'll keep you posted.
I love them! Thanks Andi, you're ACE!

I have been neglecting my shop for ...umm... most of the year. Today I listed a couple of newbies.
You can check out more of them here.

I have also negelected myself. A trip to the beautician yesterday and I now feel all womanly again (as opposed to masculine neanderthal) but perhaps I should have neglected to share that.

Have a lovely weekend,

Jenny

Goings on....

Just a quick update on a few things on the go:

Am moving on with the nephew's cot quilt. Tried some machine quilting - disaster! So unpicked all of it and am sticking with the hand quilting. I may present it to him at his 21st birthday....
Finished sister's skirt just in time - she went to Sydney for a great wedding and said skirt is now covered in red wine - apparently it was a big night.

My skirt almost done but it was a terrible fit as I didn't factor in the stretchy nature of the fabric - der! So like any sensible woman, I've thrown it back in it's bag and have sent it to "time out" for misbehaving.

The lovely Kate for The Loaf & Lounge in Camperdown (pop in if you're down that way!!) has ordered some more aprons. Thanks Kate!

Part of me is saying YAY! and part of me is saying "... oh good god not them again ...". Today is "Suck it up Princess & get on with it!" Day. So the first 10 are cut out and ready to go.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

My Creative Space

Today is trying to squeeze out a couple more aprons between running around after the little people - Thursday's are a blur this year.
(sorry rubbish photo's today - camera battery nearly flat, dark cloudy morning, kids fighting and we're running late around here as usual)
Sunday is market day (and the stock box is looking a little skinny...).

If you're a Melbourne person and fancy something to do on Sunday morning why not come and visit the Mulgrave Makers Market.

Lots of great stuff, yummy food, wonderful farmers market and lovely smiling people like me who would love you to say Hi!
Hope to see you there!

Pop over to Kirsty's to see lots of clever stuff.

What the tuck?

Some of you asked what was the go with the red tucks yesterday.
Surprise, surprise-its an apron.
Just playing with ideas for the next market which is coming around very quickly - crikey!! I must make something else soon otherwise one tuck apron is going to look pretty bloody lonely!
It was fun to make and not quite as time consuming and fiddly as my other 60's style numbers. Does that make me lazy ???

Struggling with the motivation to get off my chocolate eating bum and get on the sewing machine.

Hopefully a weekend away in the sunny state of QLD (Happy Birthday Jodie!) will help.
(Yep that was me bragging! )

Hope your weekend is fabulous too!

My Creative Space...

Should involve pleats, tucks and aprons
but will be spent behind this
Hooning around on these until tea time.
I always thought the Mum's Taxi was a farce for indulgent mothers.
I'm sorry I take it all back!
I was a foolish, naive mother who has now had her rude awakening!
For those with more time (and better organisational skills) check out more creative spaces at Kirsty's.

Party Central

A bit of organising including sewing aprons for little crafters (don't want to get crafty glue bits on your party dress)Set the table for craft (I knew that buying a canopy for markets would come in handy!) - to be had after some games including eating donnuts with no hands that were hanging from the clothes line, balloon volleyball over the couch and of course, musical statues!

Thank anybody who would listen for the sunshine.Let them into the tent and after a few tips let them go crazy.Feed them, cake them, open the door and let them bounce themselves silly on the trampoline.
Give them their goody bags (tried for more goodies - including their aprons - than lollies this time although birthday girl did say that the lollies were a little light on as we filled them together yesterday).
Wave them goodbye and enjoy all of their beautiful manners.

Marvel at how much glitter is now around our backyard and

have a little rest!
Happy Birthday Lovely No. 2 Girl.

Bad, bad blog etiquette

No, I'm not on my high horse about to blast someone else for poor behaviour from the pedestal of my blog (something about pot and a kettle comes to mind).

Oh no!!! I'm confessing!
I am the bad blogger.
The rude and insensitive person who never posted their 2010 apron swap!
What!!! Jaw's drop, eye's widen.
"How could she??!! How Rude!!!"
I hear you tut-tutting from here and I'm dropping my head in disgrace.

I meant to. Honest!
I don't know what happened exactly but posting my swap didn't.
So in an attempt to save face and to apologise to Momtaz (who has probably forgotten all about that rude Australian) here is the little apron that she made for me in last year's apron swap.
And she said she doesn't sew and it was her first attempt. Not bad! My girls love all of the bling!
And she also included a cute little brooch that she makes which my girls quite fancy too!

Thanks Momtaz and I'm so sorry for being so very rude and slack and just a basically bad mannered blogger.
I hope you're cooking up a storm in the little pink number that arrived from me.
So to all, I promise I will try my best to be a good girl in the future and remember my manners.

Sincerest apologies and happy blogging
Jenny

Bribery & corruption .....

Yesterday I tortured my kids and made them do this:

So this arvo they're playing Wii and we're having take away for tea.
Yep, bribery.

My Creative Space...

I wish it was like this...

but it is a crazy mess getting aprons and skirts finished for Sunday's market.

If you're in Melbourne on Sunday head to the Mulgrave Makers Market from 8am until 1pm. They also have their weekly Farmers Market on at the same time so you can get some fabulous fruit & veg and heaps of other yummy goodies. (I'm hoping the sausage people and Benny's berries will be there - Yum)
Make sure you say hello!
Hopefully I'll have some stuff finished to put on the rack.....

They're Done!!!!!

At last they are finished.

The big order for 50 aprons is all sewn up and ready to be delivered on Monday (yes, it's a school holiday adventure) to the wonderful Kate at Cobbloaf Cafe in Camperdown, VIC.
If you're down that way pop in for coffee & cake (and check out the staff in their new aprons and their new shop reno).

Now that they are done, I ....
  • have a new appreciation for how big the number 50 really is (I really underestimated this!)
  • now know that making, by hand, 50 of the same thing is mind numbing
  • still have an amazing ability to procrastinate - hence the mad panic at the end
  • know that my 3 year old is excellent at "helping" with pins
  • have forgotten what the park looks like
  • have let my 3 year old watch too many dvd's over the last couple of weeks so that I could finish the little monsters
  • need to find the laundry .... it's in there somewhere
  • have a very patient and wonderful family that have tripped over the sewing machine, ironing board and metres of drying fabric that have taken over our kitchen/living area - thanks guys, I love you!
  • have discovered the world of joy that is a rotary cutter. How did I not know about these ?
  • am grateful to Kate for ordering them!
  • am happy to have my life back and the sweat shop closed.

Being a very good business woman (insert tongue in cheek here...) I could invest my earnings back into my little business .......... or I could buy a real, grown-up mixmaster that I've been saving for - for years! (and let the struggling 15yr old, hand held kenwood retire with dignity).

Decisions, decisions .... mixmaster in cherry red or pistachio green ? .....

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and great school holidays!

Jenny
