Some clicking and clacking

It was an urge, a need.  An itch that hasn't been scratched for a really long time.
And luckily on a lunch trip to Kyneton we found a lovely wool shop (complete with couch for the not so interested Mr) where the kids and I hunted and foraged, admired and shared (sorry to the lovely patient shop ladies as there was a lot of wool loving from me and my kids) and all came home with something wooly to play with.
After a couple of weeks mine has turned into a long piece of green for the wintery mornings.
It is a little on the skinny side but using 8ply instead of 12ply will do that I suppose.
Hmmm, must keep that in mind for next time.... and maybe have the project first and the wool second...

A New Little Man

Lots of excitement here as our newest family member arrived on Monday!
My sister had a baby on Monday - in the ambulance parked in her driveway!
Everyone is happy and well and getting to know each other.
Unfortunately we're waiting for our colds and flu to disappear before we can smother him with kisses and cuddles.

I bought this fabric a while ago just in case (and yes I bought girly bits too - can you ever have too much fabric ???).
From the speed of his arrival, I think racing cars might be more his style rather than elephants!
Cheers

Snuffly butterflies

It's a world of wuffly snuffles here with the smallest home again today with the lurgy.
As she has grown SO much and has an aversion to jeans (or anything that I purchase these days) it has been a good opportunity to let her rummage through the stash and make her own design choices - the theory being that she may actually wear final product rather than use it as a defiant door stop in a very messy bedroom ... here's hoping...
After much discussion and she settled on various types of butterflies that I didn't even know were in the stash!
She helped with some cutting and ironing and then became very bored with it all and preferred to sniffle through a DVD on the couch.  The pefect place to be when the lurgy strikes!
Long sleeve t-shirt - basics range from Big W, applique circle of chosen fabric then highlighted with running stitch in perle 8 cotton.

(you can tell from the blurry image that despite having the lurgy, my model doesn't like to stay still)

Skirt - basic a-line shape with elastic waist and machine hem (all about quick and easy here).  Circles of fabric ironed into place with visoflex and then hand stitched with perle 8 running stitch.

She has given the finished products the thumbs up but we'll wait to see if she'll actually wear them.

Hope you and yours are lurgy free.
Check out more creative spaces over here.
Cheers

Helping Peter Mac

Cool bike basket & image from Macpherson Crate Co on etsy

Did you know that a big group of people are hopping on their treddlies for a quick little jaunt around the Yarra Valley in October ????
Yep the "Ride To Conquer Cancer" is only a quick 200km (!!) through the Yarra Valley to raise money for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne.
Some of my siblings are doing it as we're in our 4th consecutive year of family members with cancer (although my brother's training schedule of just looking at the bike in the shed and thinking about maybe taking it out for a spin may not prove to be the most effective form of preparation).
Other people are doing it too including a girl called Bonnie.  She's having a Facebook auction this month to raise funds.  Pop over here to have a squiz, find something wonderful (possibly at a bargain price) and feel good that your money is going to help people.
You might even see a bit of Ohjoh in there too that you might like to buy ...
Her auction finishes at the end of May so check it out soon!

Fete List

Ok, I love a list - who doesn't ?
I am especially fond of a useful list.
If you are school fete people or ever feel the urge to get involved with handmade goodies for a fete, maybe this will be a useful list for you.

We had our school fete last weekend and it was thick drizzly rain all day, ah that's Melbourne for you, but still lots of fun!

Here is our little list of handmade goodies that we we sold at our Handmade stall.
Some made by me, lots made by other very talented women at school and some made in craft groups in the school staff room over cake and coffee.

The Fete List
Bagtags/ key rings

Felt bags & purses (knitted and felted by a VERY talented Mum)
Zipper pouches (see Nikki's book)

Sorry I don't have pics of everything - that would have been sensible but at least I have some  ...

And as Blogger and I are not friends today (arrrgh!) everything is a bit all over the place and looks like a dog's breakfast.  Sorry, I'm hoping we can rectify our relationship soon ... maybe with some therapy or and/or a new pc!

Hope that someone might find this helpful.

Now I'm off to find the laundry floor.  We think it is in there somewhere but we can't be sure ...

Ink & Spindle Goodies

Look what arrived in the post today!

I love this design from Ink & Spindle and have made MANY teatowels with it.

Sadly it has been discontinued (but has been replaced with designs that are just as gorgeous!)
This is the last little bit kindly posted to me by the girls.
Thanks so much Lara & Teegs.
It is perfect!  More tea-towels to come!

Teatowels and where has my room gone?

Hi

Here are some tea towels hot of the press for a Mothers Day order.  Thought you might like a squiz before I pack them up.
Other than that its been May Fair madness here (ie sewing for the school fete).  It is happening this Saturday and we have lots of beautiful handmade goodies made by some very clever Mum handmade helpers!
I will show you some pics but currently all of that beautiful stuff looks like this....
The Mr is looking forward to getting our house back next week.
Hope your home is more organised than mine.
Have a great Monday
Cheers

Linen Lovely Bits

Some new linen lovely bits for the shop.

They've been finished for a while but I've been a little "slack-a-daisy" (I'm sure that is a word!) about the photography.

Hope you're all having a lovely day.

Stopping to smell the roses

They're not really smelly but they are pretty.

And so simple to make!

Check them out in Nikki's book - wouldn't expect anything but simple and straightforward from this clever chick, would you?

These ones are now sewn onto fairy tutu's for the school fete.

Hope you're enjoying your long weekend too.

Adding some colour

I have a little thing for tablecloths.

I love them.

Even the No. 1 kid thought this one was a winner - and he was unprompted!

Fabric from Ikea, hemmed at the ends and bingo!
