Putting it out there ... a little request for help

Hello lovely people,

Sometimes I find it very difficult to pronounce the word 'no' and probably don't really think things through.

For example last week I said ... "Why don't we have a handmade craft stall at the school fair ? Sure, I'll make heaps of stuff and help organise it. When is it again ???? In 8 weeks ???"

THUD! Yep, my jaw hit the floor.

BANG! That would be my sanity slamming the door on it's way out!

I've put the call out to the school community for helpers - I'm trying to bribe them with cake and chocolate on Friday morning. And there are smiling faces promising to help which is wonderful.

But I need ideas and I know you guys have LOTS of them.

This is a little call out to please share your brilliance or links to things that are quick, easy and will hopefully sell.

Thanks for your help!!

Jenny

  1. I'm sympathising. Our fete is at the end of this term. Small things under $5 sell well but you could have a few bigger items like aprons as well. What about fabric/photo post cards, hair accessories, pot holders, place mats, table runners, fridge magnets, gift cards and of course you have to have some lace tissue box covers!!!!

  2. Ahem... I know a good book that has quite a few small projects in it.... called something about a girl sewing.

Kids drawings printed on inkjet fabric stitched onto stuff....?

    Hair-ties and hair-clips with buttons and yo-yos....?

  3. Oh I have just seen this!
I second (third?) aprons and chef hats for kids and hairthings - headbands, and hair ties done with buttons on them in the school colours from an old uniform - non-sewing types can make these up easily too.
What about super-hero capes or dinosaur tails that velcro on - always fun and easy to make, basic fairy skirts always sell well, tissue holders, key fobs - that's a few things. I had a list....

  4. Pencil rolls - nappy/wipes wallets, get the power tools involved and make story cubes from timber...fabric necklaces - the sort where you knot beads into light fabric.

  5. Probably too late but bunting, color themed small ones, cut the easy way with a pinking rotary cutter and then stitched wrong sides together. Still looks great but much faster to make up.
