Click Clack Clacking

One big boy beanie for a little brother's head is finished and in the post.

Modelled by a reluctant Mr who is wearing a t-shirt - a Perth winter is very different to a Melbourne winter and this is why I am posting these goodies back to Victoria.  Not a lot of need for them here.

One Miura Cowel for my sister finished too.

The youngest girl, despite the fact that she is still wearing shorts and t-shirts most of the time, has requested I make her a beanie as the next project.

Quite enjoying the clickety-clacks although my neck is getting a bit stiff and sore - I'm a tense little knitter.
Must remember to relax the shoulders and look up occasionally otherwise my neck will seize up and my head will probably explode.
That would just be messy.

Clickety Clack

For me crochet is like ordering a 12 course meal in Portugese with only a tiny Portugese/English language dictionary to help.  It can be done but is slow, clumsy and you may not get what you think you should be getting.

So I've gone back to the sticks.  It just makes sense to my brain.

I made my first ever beanie last week and forgot to photograph it before I posted it to my brother.
It was a little small so now belongs to his lovely girlfriend.

This is a second attempt being made a little bigger to fit his not so small head.
Matching wool and matching pattern.
Ha, won't they look quaint with matching beanies as they walk around the paddocks!
The pattern is here on ravelry.

Have you anything on the sticks or are you hooking?

Like riding a bike ....

The last time I used the knitting sticks was when grunge was go, hair was permed and pert was a word that I could use in reference to myself.

It has been a while.

Yesterday I spent 7 hours being Mum's chemo buddy. We take turns and all love it - when you are 1 of 5 kids having mum to yourself is a rare and special thing.

I had a one on one tutorial with an expert.

Knitting is like riding a bike.

And very therapeutic.

Crochet not so much. It made my brain hurt and my Mum laugh.

Knitting nits!

Scene:
School pick-up time. Lots of kids, mums, dogs, prams, bikes etc - the same at every school. Very excited 7 year old runs to mum with a "head lice in school" notice.

Miss No.2: Mum, Mum, I can bring knitting home this week.

Mum: Oh no darling, this is just a notice about headlice.

Miss No.2: No! Mum, I can bring knitting home.

Mum: No darling "Nits" and headlice are the same thing. This just tells us that they're at school so we should check. It's not about knitting.

Miss No.2: Mu-um (note extra syllable and insert eye roll)

Child runs back to classroom and returns with plastic bag containing said knitting.

Mum: Oh, sorry. I misunderstood.

Mum launches into enthusiastic conversation with daughter about learning to "knit" at school as part of their art/craft class.
