Good golly - I've made something!

It's been a while since I've posted pics of something that has been made by me.
Here are a couple of things that have been wrapped up and given away ....

A baby wrap for a nephew. (Technically made & delivered in May but forgot to share it with you)

One of Nikki's bag for a lovely 11 year old.

I love this pattern - so easy and wise (can a pattern be wise?).  I love the tips and tricks in it. 

For girls like me who have learnt as we go (apart from Textiles class at High School .... SUCH a long time ago) these tips are fabulous!  

Sometimes you can hear my brain clunk as I read them and things fall into place.  

I've made a denim laptop/satchel bag with a lovely Prints Charming lining as this lovely girl still adores pink and loves to carry stuff with her.

I've also finished all of the prep costumes for the school concert which is tomorrow night (LOT's of excitement in our house).
I handed them to the teachers yesterday (17 dresses & hair ties and 16 vests) and didn't take any photos to show you - what a dufus!  Will try and get some tomorrow.

Hmm, what to do next  ??
Maybe finish Miss 2's quilt that was started in January - yep it has been neglected.
Now it's out there and I've dobbed myself in I'll have to finish it!

I also have another little project in the pipeline that I'll share with you soon.

A red bag

This one was a special request from a girlfriend's Mum who is now on her way home to the UK.

The photo's don't really show how lovely the red is - and all girls love a bit of red, don't we ?? (especially if it is a pair of shoes...)

It was based on this pattern.

Raiders Of The Fabric Stash

Kids grow so quickly.

Summer clothes from last year are a bit hit and miss in the 'fitting" department, and as we're about to go sun hunting (ie holiday in QLD) my kids need new clothes.

As the result of some, aah, lets call them budget miscalculations (oopsy), I thought it would be responsible and frugal to dig in the fabric stash and make some creations for the girlies rather than buy them.

The young boy cocked his head and looked at me in complete disbelief - "ah, don't make me anything will you Mum ???!?!" with a wide eyed look of fear. Yep, we've crossed the line into the territory commonly known as "Clothes that my Mum makes are sooo not cool".

Decorated a couple of $5 t-shirts from Big W (must have "sparkles, apparently).Whipped up a tote bag using the "throbbing member" fabric as a lining - thanks to Julie's wonderful suggestion. It shall now be known as the "Man Bag". Not sure how I feel about rumaging around in it ??....

The youngest also needed a hat. I have had Nikki's kids hat pattern sitting here, just waiting, for over a year (do you do that too ??? or is it just me?) so pulled it out and gave it a whirl. I was a bit scared as they look a bit tricky but no drama! Easy instructions that even I could follow. She's a whizz, that Nikki girl!
The youngest has a hat, the middle has placed an order and the boy gave me that same wide eyed look, said 'no thanks Mum' before I even asked and ran to his room just in case I measured his head.

I have a couple more things to whip up before we go. Will share if I get a chance.

The sewing machine will be breathing a sigh of relief when we leave on our holiday. It hasn't worked this hard in ages!

Probably not what he expected ..... but as close as he's going to get for a while.

Holiday activity bags all finished waiting for the journey.

Bring on the sunshine and the warmth !!!!

my creative space.....

We're soon to be heading north in search of some sun (YAY!!! - those also in Melb will understand my excitement), so I'm filling bags with goodies for each of the kiddies to occupy them on the journey.

First, I need the bags.

I pulled out one of Nikki's patterns that I bought a couple of years ago and never got around to using it. Love it!! So easy, such great tips and a really good result - Thanks Nikki!

One down, 2 to go.
